125 Mbps Fiber Optic Transceiver with Link Redundancy Key Features
Omni Technologies, Inc. has developed the FOTR-125 Fiber-Optic Data Link as a cost effective solution for long distance, duplex data communications between the Racal Storeplex Tape Transport Unit (TTU) and the Signal Processing Unit (SPU). The fiber link allows a user to separate the TTU and SPU over greater distances than normally allowed (50 meters) by Racal's standard coaxial interface. Each FOTR-125 accepts Racal's standard interface as output. The FOTR-125 utilizes LASER diode transmitter modules and integrated receivers for the optical interface. Two transmitters and two receivers are employed at each end of the link with automatic or manual switchover to maximize the reliability of the communications link. The FOTR-125 is normally packaged as a stand-alone transceiver with built in power supplies (Size: 3.75"H, 9"W, 11.25"D); other form factors can be accommodated. Model FOTR-125A is available as a more economical solution for applications not requiring the reliability of a redundant link; the secondary electro-optical components and switchover circuitry are eliminated in this model.
